Wayne State University (WSU) operates its human participant research programs under a Federal Wide Assurance (FWA) with the Department of Health and Human Services. The FWA is on file with the Office for Human Research Protection, and carries an identification number of: FWA 00002460. The most current expiration date for this FWA can be found by clicking on the Federal Wide Assurance link above.
In accordance with this FWA, the Human Investigation Committee (HIC) is the primary Institutional Review Board (IRB) for WSU and its affiliated heath care institutions (Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Detroit Receiving Hospital/University Health Center, Sinai-Grace Hospital, Harper University Hospital, Huron Valley/Sinai Hospital, Hutzel Women's Hospital, Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, John D. Dingell Veterans Administration Medical Center, and the Michigan Orthopedic Surgery Hospital).

- "Einstein's Biggest Blunder: A Cosmic Mystery Story" Talk
- July 30 2009 at 6:00 PMCommunity Arts AuditoriumNoted astro-physicist and author, Lawrence Krauss, will deliver a free public lecture at Wayne State University as part of an international meeting on particle physics being held on campus from July 26 to 31. Professor Krass, the author of seven popular books including the international bestseller, "The Physics of Star Trek," will talk on "Einstein's Biggest Blunder: A Cosmic Mystery Story" on Thursday, July 30th at 6 p.m. in the Community Arts Auditorium, 495 West Ferry Ave. Admission is free, but a reservation is required. The meeting, sponsored by the American Physical Society, is expected to attract over 300 particle physicists from around the world to present and discuss their latest results. The meeting will highlight the imminent start-up of the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland and recent results on the mysterious "dark matter" of the universe.
